The Story of our Shop
Sugar Magnolia Flower Company, as it is known now, began as Brown’s Floral Design. A long, long time ago.
The flower shop was founded in 1926 and began in the basement of West Funeral Home, serving the families of Weaverville. Brown’s has been in the same location on Main Street in Weaverville since 1976! We know operate as a studio behind the old retail shop, now Leveller Brewery.
We still pride ourselves on our longstanding relationship with the Weaverville community. Almost everyone in the town of Weaverville has used our Flower Shop over the last 97 years!
Brown’s was purchased in 2017, by Hannah Warfield. She waited a few years to change the name (wondering if there was anyone in the Brown family left in town). After awhile, it seemed that the name didn’t have a special meaning for the town anymore (and “brown” is not a color for flowers).
Soooo…..we changed the name!
The Name, Sugar Magnolia Flower Company is inspired by one of Hannah’s favorite songs, by her favorite band.
We love the new name and hope you do too!
